Campaign preflight — PriceProof Prior Prices guide

Review read-only price evidence before a campaign in PriceProof Prior Prices (Omnibus), understand pass, fail, and insufficient-history results, and export the same report as CSV.

Open the report

  1. In Shopify admin, open Apps → PriceProof Prior Prices.
  2. In the app navigation, select Campaign preflight. The embedded app route is /app/preflight; it requires an authenticated app session and is not a public storefront page.
  3. Review the report currency, generation time, and rows before using Download preflight CSV.

The report covers the 25 most recently updated products, up to 10 variants per product. It uses the shop currency returned to the app. It does not infer or convert Markets-specific prices, so it is not a complete catalog or market-by-market audit.

Read each row

FieldMeaning
Product / Variant / SKUThe live product and variant returned by Shopify. SKU can be blank; history is not matched by SKU.
CurrentThe variant's current selling price in the report currency.
Compare-atThe variant's current Shopify compare-at price. It is shown for review and is not treated as proof of a genuine earlier selling price.
ReferenceThe observed reference price from the existing omnibus.prior_price evaluation, when that evaluation is ok. A dash means no usable reference value was available to this report.
Evidence from / Evidence toThe earliest and latest recorded price-event dates for the same variant ID and currency. This is the observed evidence period, not a promise of complete or uninterrupted coverage.
Last checkedThe latest recording timestamp associated with that variant-and-currency history. A dash means no matching history was found. The report's separate Generated time says when the page was produced.
StatusPass, Fail, or Insufficient history, as defined below.

History is joined by variant ID + currency, not by SKU. The same SKU on another variant or in another currency does not supply evidence for this row. If a variant is deleted and recreated, the new variant ID does not inherit the deleted variant's history in this report.

Understand the three states

StatusWhen the report uses itWhat to do
Pass (pass)Matching history and a usable reference price exist, the existing evaluation is ok, and its discount-mismatch result is neither warn nor violation.Review the evidence and the rule for your market before publishing. Pass is not a legal approval.
Fail (fail)Matching history and a usable reference price exist, but the existing discount-mismatch result is warn or violation.Review the current price, compare-at price, reference price, evidence period, and campaign wording before proceeding.
Insufficient history (insufficient_history)No matching history exists, the existing evaluation is not ok, or no usable reference price is available.Treat the evidence as incomplete. This state is deliberately neither a pass nor a fail; collect or verify history and reassess.

A status evaluates the app's recorded data and existing rules only. It does not decide whether a campaign is lawful.

Export and interpret the CSV

Select Download preflight CSV. The filename starts with priceproof-preflight- and includes the export date. The CSV contains the same scoped rows as the on-screen report, with these columns in order:

CSV columnReport meaning
product_id, product_titleShopify product identifier and title.
variant_id, variant_title, skuShopify variant identity, title, and SKU.
current_price, compare_at_priceCurrent variant price and compare-at price.
reference_price, currencyObserved reference price and the report currency.
evidence_from, evidence_toObserved price-event period for this variant ID and currency.
statuspass, fail, or insufficient_history.
last_checked_atLatest recording timestamp for the matching history.

Unavailable values are empty. Text containing commas, quotes, or line breaks is CSV-escaped. Opening the embedded route with ?format=csv returns the CSV response directly; the normal page and CSV use the same read-only loader and product limits.

Market rules differ

The EU Omnibus prior-price principle generally concerns the lowest price during a prior 30-day period, but exceptions and national implementation details matter. The UK, Canada, and Australia use different reference-price and substantiation frameworks; they are not interchangeable with a universal 30-day rule. PriceProof Prior Prices addresses Omnibus prior-price evidence. PriceProof: Price Proof is the separate product for UK/AU/CA was-price checks.

This preflight report does not select a member-state rule, convert currencies, or produce a separate result for every Shopify Market. Confirm the rule and evidence period that apply to the market, customer audience, product, and campaign presentation you are reviewing.
