PriceProof

PriceProof Prior Prices — Merchant Guide

Automatically record and display the lowest price of each variant over the prior 30 days (EU Omnibus prior‑price rule), show it next to the current price on product pages, and export an audit‑ready CSV — all features free, no billing.

Why this app exists

The EU Omnibus Directive (and mirror rules in UK, CA, AU) requires merchants to show the lowest price applied in the previous 30 days whenever a discount is advertised. Manually tracking that price for every variant is error‑prone and time‑consuming.

This app records the prior price continuously in the background, surfaces it on the product page via an app block, and gives you a one‑click CSV for regulators or your own audit. No scopes beyond read_products/write_products; no customer data.

What you get (every feature is free)

FeatureWhat it does for you
Automatic prior‑price trackingEvery time a variant price changes, the previous price and timestamp are stored. The lowest price in the rolling 30‑day window is always available.
Theme app block, zero codeAdd the "Prior price" block to your product template in the theme editor. It shows "Was €XX.XX (lowest in 30 days)" next to the sale price.
Audit‑ready CSV exportDownload a deterministic CSV with variant ID, current price, prior price, and the date the prior price was recorded. Ready for regulator requests.
Multi‑market supportWorks for EU, UK, CA, AU stores — the same block respects each market’s currency and price list.
Lightweight & privateOnly read_products and write_products scopes. No orders, no customer data, no external calls.

How it works (5 minutes to live)

  1. Install — the app syncs your catalog and starts recording price history immediately.
  2. Add the block — in the theme editor, insert the Prior price block on the product template where you want the “Was” price to appear.
  3. Run a sale — when you set a discount, the block automatically shows the lowest price from the last 30 days.
  4. Export CSV anytime — open the dashboard and click “Export prior‑price CSV” for a complete audit file.

FAQ

Does this guarantee Omnibus compliance?
No tool can guarantee compliance — obligations depend on your pricing practices, markets, and how you present discounts. The app gives you the prior‑price data the law asks you to display; you must still apply it correctly in your theme.

Can I customize the wording?
Yes. The block renders a short template ("Was {{prior_price}} (lowest in 30 days)") that you can edit in the theme editor.

What happens if a variant has no price change in 30 days?
The block simply doesn’t render, so you only show a prior price when a genuine discount exists.

Where is my data stored?
Japan (Tokyo), on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
