Three things most people want to know: how to schedule, how to undo, and where the data lives.
Schedule a discount
- Open the app from
Shopify admin → Apps → PriceProof. - Pick a product and a percentage off the current price. (Only percentages: a fixed amount drifts as the price moves.)
- Choose the start and end. The end must be in the future.
- Save. PriceProof creates one Shopify automatic discount for that window and stores its id.
One window per product at a time. If a product already has a live window, saving again is refused rather than silently stacking a second discount on the same item.
Cancel or revert
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| Revert now | Deletes the discount on Shopify, marks the row reverted, frees the product slot. Checkout returns to full price. |
| Cancel | Same deletion. If Shopify refuses the delete, the row is not marked cancelled and we tell you — "cancelled" while checkout still applies the discount is the one state we will not create. |
| Let it end | Shopify removes it at the end time on its own. The row is closed on the next reconcile pass. |
Where your data lives
- Schedule rows, the event log and your settings are in our database, keyed to your shop.
- Your Shopify access token is stored encrypted; the browser only holds a session cookie.
- Merchants can also see every discount we created under
Admin → Discounts, because they are ordinary automatic discounts.
Recovering schedules from Shopify
If our database is ever restored from an empty state, the app can rebuild the schedule list from the discounts that still exist in your shop — they carry a marker so they can be recognised. Two things cannot come back this way: rows whose discount was already deleted, and the exact price history captured at the time.
FAQ
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Does it change my product prices? | No. The discount is applied at checkout. Variant prices, compare-at prices and feeds are untouched. |
| What happens if PriceProof goes offline? | Discounts already created still start and end — Shopify runs them. You just cannot create new windows until the app is back. |
| Why only percentages? | A fixed amount has to be recalculated whenever the base price moves; a percentage cannot drift. |
| Can I schedule a price increase? | Not with PriceProof. Price-change scheduling was retired; use Shopify Flow with a scheduled trigger and an Admin API request. |
| Where do I cancel the subscription? | Shopify admin → Settings → Apps and sales channels → PriceProof → Manage. |
