EU Textile Fibre Labels — Merchant Guide
Quick summary: Validate fibre names and percentages against EU Regulation 1007/2011 Annex I, display compliant compositions in the shopper's language, and export an audit CSV. Free, no caps.
Why this app exists
EU textile rules (Regulation 1007/2011) expect product pages to state a textile's fibre composition using the allowed Annex I fibre names, with percentages that add up to 100.
Non-compliant labels — trade names like "Lycra" instead of "elastane", percentages that don't sum to 100, or missing translations — can trigger market-surveillance actions and damage consumer trust.
This app checks the composition you enter against the Annex I list in six languages, explains problems in plain words, displays a validated composition on your product pages in the shopper's language (with English fallback), and documents what you displayed and since when in a timestamped CSV.
What you get (every feature is free)
| Feature | What it does for you |
|---|---|
| Validated against Annex I in 6 languages | Checks fibre names against the official Annex I list in EN, FR, DE, IT, ES, and PL — the languages your EU shoppers actually use. |
| Flags percentages that don't add to 100 | Plain-language reasons for every issue: "Percentages sum to 98% — missing 2%" or "Unknown fibre name 'Spandex' — use 'elastane' per Annex I". |
| Suggests allowed names for trade names | Enter "Lycra", "Tencel", or "polycotton" and the app suggests the correct Annex I terms ("elastane", "lyocell", "cotton / polyester") so you don't have to look them up. |
| Theme block shows composition in shopper's language | The storefront block detects the storefront language and displays the validated composition in that language automatically — English fallback when a translation isn't available. |
| Audit CSV documents what each product page displayed and since when | Timestamped export of every product's validated composition, language shown, and display start date — the record you'd want if a market-surveillance authority asks. |
| Lightweight & private | Uses only the write_products scope. No orders, no customer data, no crawling, no AI. |
How it works (5 minutes to first label)
- Install — the app adds a "Textile composition" editor to your product pages.
- Enter fibre composition per product — fibre name + percentage per line. The validator runs instantly.
- Fix any flags — the issues banner shows plain-language reasons; click a suggestion to apply the correct Annex I name.
- Add the theme block — "Textile composition" block in the theme editor places the validated label on product pages in the shopper's language.
- Export audit CSV — download a timestamped record of what each product page displayed and since when, any time.
What this app is / isn't (honest framing)
- It is a validation & display tool, not legal advice. Whether your specific product falls under Regulation 1007/2011, and which labelling obligations apply, depends on your product type and markets — the app does not decide that for you.
- It does not provide legal advice. The Annex I list and percentage rules are encoded from the regulation text; edge cases (non-textile components, exclusions in Art. 3) remain your assessment.
- It covers on-storefront product pages. Information required on physical labels, packaging, or in off-storefront channels remains your responsibility.
- Trade-name suggestions are suggestions. The app maps common trade names to Annex I terms based on public guidance; you confirm each one before it's saved.
FAQ
Does this make my textile labels compliant?
No tool can promise that — obligations depend on your product scope, fibre content, and target markets. The app validates your entered composition against the Annex I list and percentage rules, and displays it in the shopper's language; the overall compliance assessment remains yours.
What if my product has non-textile parts (buttons, zippers)?
Regulation 1007/2011 covers textile fibres. Non-textile components are outside the fibre-composition label — the app focuses on the textile portion you enter.
Do you access my customers or orders?
No — the app requests only the write_products scope and processes no consumer personal data.
Which languages are supported?
EN, FR, DE, IT, ES, PL (the six EU languages with official Annex I translations). The storefront block uses the shopper's storefront language when available; English is the fallback.
Where is my data stored? Japan (Tokyo), on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
